This week, sport, public safety and archaeological heritage have been at the centre of the news in Guardamar del Segura. Regional coverage has also brought updates on tourism projects and grants linked to the DANA.

Guardamar Soccer visit C.D. Cox The first team play away at C.D. Cox on Saturday 31 October at 4 pm, in the sixth matchday of Segunda FFCV, Group 8.

CB Guardamar Senior A host Denia Basquet The local side play at home on Saturday 31 October at 7 pm, in matchday 2 of the Senior Men’s First Zonal League, Group E. The following day, Sunday 1 November, at 4.30 pm, they will play at home again against CBC Amplivox El Campello, in matchday 4 of the same competition.

Driver stopped after hitting cars The Local Police took action in Guardamar after receiving reports from residents. The driver allegedly hit several vehicles and recorded a blood alcohol level of 1.54 mg/l, above the 0.60 mg/l criminal threshold set out in the Criminal Code.

La Fonteta expands the record of the Phoenician defences The archaeological campaign in Guardamar has documented a new section of wall and two towers at the ancient settlement beside the Segura.

Proposed eco-hotel in Guardamar opens a new period for objections The proposal covers 5.49 hectares and remains subject to environmental assessment and the relevant municipal licence.

Guardamar joins the Vega Baja’s gastronomic labels The region’s new tourism and gastronomy website features suggestions from all 27 municipalities and will support Tourist Info offices. Guardamar contributes two initiatives to the first gastronomic labels.

DANA Adam grants do not include Guardamar del Segura The Generalitat has launched grants of up to €10,000 for affected businesses. Applications open on 2 November and close on 1 February 2027; the annexes include Guardamar de la Safor, but not Guardamar del Segura.
